When will reviews appear?

Publishers typically lift review embargoes between a few days before launch and launch day itself. No embargo time has been announced publicly for Beast of Reincarnation, so we are not going to print a date we cannot source. IGN has had early hands-on access, and broader preview access went out to outlets more recently — both usually signal that review code is circulating.

We will update this page with the score roundup once reviews publish, rather than filling it with a placeholder number now.

What previews have highlighted

These are impressions from hands-on preview coverage of unfinished builds, not review verdicts. Treat them as signals about direction, not quality judgements.

Encouraging

  • Parry-driven combat reads as deliberate and readable in hands-on footage
  • Commanding Koo adds a tactical layer most action RPGs do not have
  • Art direction for the year-4026 Japan setting has been widely praised in previews

Open questions

  • Parry-centred defence may not suit players who dislike timing-based combat
  • Game Freak has not shipped an original large-scale action RPG before, so execution across 40 hours is unproven
  • PC minimum specs ask for a GTX 1070 and an SSD, which is steep for older libraries

Deciding before reviews land

The game is on Game Pass from day one for Xbox Series and PC, which means you can form your own verdict without the $59.99 commitment. If you are on PS5, waiting for scores costs nothing — no edition includes early access, so pre-ordering buys you cosmetics rather than time.
